“"I've been searching for ways to heal myself, and I've found that kindness is the best way." - Lady Gaga
Gwendolyn “Gwen” Hope-Battley believes that no one should have to navigate life’s challenges alone. She is passionate about creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to pursue meaningful change. Gwen understands that every individual brings a unique story, set of experiences, and personal values into the counseling relationship, and she is committed to meeting clients exactly where they are in their journey.
Gwen takes a person-centered and collaborative approach to therapy, helping clients explore the intrapersonal and interpersonal challenges that may be impacting their well-being. She utilizes evidence-based approaches including Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Existential Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. Her goal is to tailor treatment to each client’s individual needs, strengths, and goals while fostering self-awareness, resilience, and personal growth.
Known for her compassionate presence, active listening skills, and authentic engagement, Gwen works to build strong therapeutic relationships founded on trust, empathy, and respect. She believes healing occurs when clients feel safe enough to explore difficult thoughts, emotions, memories, and life experiences while discovering the strengths they already possess. Gwen enjoys helping clients develop healthy coping skills, increase self-confidence, identify meaningful goals, and create a path toward lasting wellness.
Gwen is also mindful of the ways social, cultural, and systemic influences can affect mental health and strives to provide care that is inclusive, affirming, and responsive to each client’s lived experience. She values creating a therapeutic space where clients feel respected, understood, and empowered throughout the counseling process.
Outside of the therapy room, Gwen enjoys reading, yoga, jogging, biking, painting, arts and crafts, gardening, hiking, and spending time in nature. She is currently pursuing additional training in art therapy and plans to further her education in eco-therapy and somatic approaches to healing.
Gwen’s ideal therapeutic relationship is one built on trust, safety, reliability, and genuine care. She believes that with support, self-discovery, and intentional effort, clients can uncover hidden strengths, overcome obstacles, and move toward a more fulfilling and balanced life.
